This sturdy Darwin hybrid is named after one of the tallest and heaviest sumo wrestlers, Akebono Tar. Tulip 'Akebono' shows superb garden performance and incredible longevity, producing massive double blooms with subtly wavy petals, on strong stems. Akebono also means dawn in Japanese, which reflects the sunny yellow shades and blushed pink tones of this striking variety. This show-stopping tulip will flower from late April to early May, and looks particularly effective planted en masse, as well as making a wonderful cut flower.Height: 50cm (20in). Spread: 15cm (6in)
