Ranunculus lingua (Marginal Aquatic)

The vibrant golden buttercups, known scientifically as Ranunculus lingua, gracefully sway on their elongated stems, catching the sunlight and attracting a variety of pollinators. This native British plant thrives in the moist environments of pond edges and boggy areas, where it establishes dense clusters of lance-shaped green leaves. These lush leaves not only enhance the visual appeal of the landscape but also serve as essential habitats for various aquatic life forms, both above and below the water's surface. This makes Ranunculus lingua an excellent addition to wildlife ponds and naturalistic water gardens, where it can flourish and support biodiversity. The striking bowl-shaped flowers of Ranunculus lingua, with their glossy yellow petals, bloom from June to July, adding a splash of colour to the pond's ecosystem. With tall stems that can reach heights of up to 1 metre (approximately 4.9 feet), this plant contributes vertical interest to the aquatic landscape, creating a dynamic and inviting environment. Its ability to spread vigorously through rhizomes makes it particularly suitable for larger wildlife ponds, where it can establish itself and thrive, providing not only beauty but also a vital resource for local wildlife. This combination of aesthetic appeal and ecological benefits makes Ranunculus lingua a favored choice for those looking to enhance their garden's natural charm.Water depth: 0-30cm.
