Potentilla palustris (Marginal Aquatic)

Potentilla palustris, is a charming native plant of Britain that flourishes in damp habitats, making it an excellent selection for the edges of ponds, bog gardens, and various wetland settings. This perennial is particularly striking during the early to mid-summer months when it showcases its deep red, star-shaped flowers. These blooms, adorned with prominent red sepals, rise gracefully on long stems above low-growing clusters of attractive, lobed leaves. As the only native cinquefoil with red flowers, Potentilla palustris not only enhances the visual appeal of any garden but also plays a crucial role in supporting local wildlife, serving as a rich nectar source for bees, hoverflies, and other essential pollinators.Incorporating Potentilla palustris into your landscape can create a beautiful and harmonious environment, especially when allowed to spread naturally along the edges of ponds.
