Osmanthus heterophyllus is versatile, growing in most soil conditions as a unique but also oddly close appearing shrub to a holly tree. Its evergreen foliage is dense and multi-spine, producing flowers which soon turn into small black-blue fruits ? not the typical red of a holly.
