Oenanthe aquatica, commonly known as fine-leaved water-dropwort or water fennel, is a UK native that thrives in shallow, still or slow-moving waters such as ponds, ditches, and marshes. This herbaceous biennial to perennial species features hollow stems that can reach up to 1.5 metres in height. Its finely divided, feathery foliage provides a delicate, fern-like appearance, adding texture and interest to aquatic landscapes. From June to September, it produces small white flowers arranged in compound umbels, attracting a variety of pollinators. It enhances biodiversity and offers shelter for aquatic wildlife, making it Ideal for wildlife gardens and naturalistic water features. Please note that all parts of the plant are highly toxic if ingested.Water depth: 0-15cm. Ultimate height: 1-1.5m (3.2ft- 4.9ft). Ultimate spread: 50cm to 1m (20in to 3.2ft).
