This wonderful evergreen magnolia is very different from the spring-flowering types and is perfectly suited to smaller gardens. Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem' is a petite replica of the show-stopping Magnolia grandifloras that grows up the wall of stately homes. It forms a small, columnar, evergreen tree smothered in leathery, deep glossy foliage with velvety, copper undersides which will provide interest in your garden all year round. Masses of large, cup-like blooms will burst into life in late summer to autumn. The sturdy, white petals unfurl to reveal luxurious flowers with a gentle fragrance which contrast beautifully against the deep green leaves. The blooms are followed by red, conical fruits, furthering interest into autumn. Magnolia grandiflora 'Little Gem' is ideal for container growing, training up a sheltered wall or growing as a specimen tree in a small growing space.
