Equisetum scirpoides, commonly known as dwarf horsetail or dwarf scouring rush is an unusual evergreen marginal plant. Its slender, dark green, unbranched stems are segmented with black-ringed joints and form dense, wiry clumps that often twist and coil. Equisetum scirpoides thrives in moist to wet soils and can even tolerate shallow standing water. Although less invasive than other horsetails, it is best suited to growing in contained ponds where its spread can be controlled. An intriguing plant that adds valuable winter interest to smaller ponds and tub gardens. Ultimate height: 20cm (8in). Ultimate spread: 50cm (20in).
