Crataegus grignonensis

This award-winning tree is favoured for its incredible blossom in spring and decorative fruits that are long-lasting. Crataegus grignonensis produces a small, vase-like tree with a spreading crown of glossy, deep green foliage with lighter undersides. The leaves will remain until winter and in mild temperatures will be semi-evergreen. Unlike the standard hawthorn, the branches are practically thornless. In late spring, a mass of small white flowers, that gradually change to pink, will smother the branches and attract plenty of butterflies and bees. Shiny, round red fruits will follow the blossom, which will be adored by birds and other wildlife, adding interest in autumn and remaining until the first hard frost. A sturdy and versatile hardy tree that will tolerate drought and pollution once established.
