Berberis thunbergii 'Green Carpet,' like all barberry plants, is tough and resilient. The arching stems are cloaked in bright green foliage beginning in early spring, which contrasts nicely with the pale yellow blooms and red berries that follow. The flowers attract pollinating insects, and the berries are irresistible to birds, making this an excellent specimen for wildlife habitats. This deciduous shrub is most colourful in autumn, when the leaves turn crimson red and amber and make a lovely colour accent in borders. This barberry is a good groundcover plant because of its low spreading habit. Height: 100 cm (39). Spread: 150 cm (60).
