In late spring, the concealed underground tubers of Arisaema sikokianum burst into life, producing striking purple-and-white spathes that mimic the open mouth of a cobra poised to strike! Nestled within the boldly striped, hooded bracts is a brilliant white, club-shaped spadix. This dramatic display is framed by tropical-looking, palmate leaves, occasionally accented with silvery mottling.Also known as the Japanese cobra lily, this rare woodland perennial combines elegance with intrigue—perfect for gardeners seeking something unusual and sophisticated.
